Update on Toyota Production

Toyota has been fighting an uphill battle of limited parts and reduced production levels after the record breaking quake in March. Toyota on the other hand, just announced that production levels at its North American plants are recovering faster than expected, two months earlier than originally anticipated, and normal operations should resume this September -.

On June 6, Toyota returned to full production of the Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Sienna, and Toyota Highlander. The automaker expects the Toyota Tundra, Toyota Tacoma, and Toyota RAV4 to follow closely on the heels of these eight vehicles, resuming normal levels by the September…

Fast Bounce Back By Toyota

The earthquake, tsunami and subsequent power outages that struck northeastern Japan in March disrupted operations at all Japanese automaker facilities and damaged the plants of key parts suppliers. From March 11 to the end of May, vehicle production shortages jumped to 550,000 units in Japan and another 350,000 units overseas. After investigating the extent of the damage in the aftermath, Toyota projected they could increase operating levels from 50 percent to about 70-percent, in coming months and to 100 percent, hopefully by the end of the fourth quarter.
