Toyota Says "Surf's Up!" with New Tacoma Variant

How versatile is the all-new 2012 Toyota Tacoma? So much so that Toyota has crafted several special edition models of it to be shown off at this year's SEMA Show. One variant of the Tacoma that has everyone at Hoy-Fox Toyota talking aboutis the Oakly Surf Tacoma, which was unveiled by Toyota and Australian surfing pro, Tom Whitaker on November 1st

Toyota teamed with Oakley, and several aftermarket specialists, to create the surfer's dream ride, and they added a wide range of interior and exterior modifications. Among the more immediately noticeable upgrades that are seen in the Oakley Surf Tacoma are an Icon stage 3 lift kit; Flowmaster stainless steel exhaust; front coilover system; and Walker Evans 17 x 8 bead lock wheels with a flat black finish mounted to BF Goodrich 285/75-17 all-terrain tires.

Those are all great additions, but a true surfer's ride needs more than just performance upgrades. It needs to cater to the surfing lifestyle, and that's exactly what Toyota and Oakley did in creating this vehicle. It features a larger roof rack/rear bed system that's capable of holding six to eight surfboards; Wet Okole Hawaii seat covers, with custom embroidery; a Kicker sound system for blasting tunes that can be heard while riding the waves; and, perhaps most interesting -  an integrated shower system.

Currently, there's no word on when or even if the Oakley Surf Tacoma will make it into production. But, you can bet that everyone here at 11165 Gateway West El Paso, TX 79935 will be keeping a close eye on the distinct truck as it appears at future Oakley surf competitions.
